About The Position

Maxus Properties is seeking to hire a Computer Support Specialist. Reporting to the IT Manager/Director of Operations home office in Kansas City, this position is full-time, Monday through Friday. Some travel to properties is required for on-site support, installations, and troubleshooting. The Computer Support Specialist is responsible for providing technical assistance and support to employees across Maxus Properties’ portfolio. This role ensures smooth day-to-day operation of computer systems, property management software, and network infrastructure to support leasing, accounting, maintenance, and corporate teams.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of IT support or help desk experience
  • Proficiency with Windows OS, Microsoft 365, and common business applications
  • Familiarity with networking concepts (TCP/IP, routers, firewalls, Wi-Fi)
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Ability to manage multiple requests and prioritize effectively
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and on-site when needed
  • Ability to travel between properties as needed
  • Occasional after-hours or on-call support may be required
  • Ability to lift and install equipment (up to 40 lbs)
  • All qualified candidates will be subject to drug testing and a criminal background check.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or related field
  • Experience supporting multi-site or property management environments is a plus
  • Experience with property management software (Yardi, AppFolio, etc.) preferred
  • Basic knowledge of cybersecurity best practices

Responsibilities

  • Provide help desk support for on-site and remote employees across multiple properties
  • Troubleshoot hardware, software, and network issues in a timely manner
  • Install, configure, and maintain desktops, laptops, printers, and mobile devices
  • Support property management systems (e.g., Yardi, AppFolio, RealPage, or similar)
  • Maintain and monitor network systems, Wi-Fi connectivity, and VPN access
  • Perform routine system updates, patches, and backups
  • Assist in managing user accounts, permissions, and security settings
  • Ensure data security and compliance with company policies
  • Travel to properties as needed to resolve on-site technical issues
  • Support leasing offices with software, POS systems, and communication tools
  • Assist with setup of new properties, offices, or workstations
  • Document technical issues, resolutions, and system configurations
  • Create user guides and provide basic training to staff on systems and tools
  • Maintain inventory of IT equipment and licenses
  • Work with third-party vendors for hardware, software, and telecom services
  • Assist in evaluating and recommending technology solutions
