About The Position

A Computer Scientist V provides senior-level software and systems engineering services to a variety of projects or customer efforts and has a critical impact on future business and/or existing relationships. The team is embedded directly with active customers. The role involves functioning as a technical lead, technical manager, or system architect of multiple projects at the department level, as directed by management. This position also involves pursuing new business efforts, leading proposal efforts, and acting as a technical consultant. The Computer Scientist V will direct and provide guidance to technical staff on complex projects, direct/participate in planning, design, and implementation of work within functional scope, and work independently of direct supervision in pursuit of goals defined by management. The role requires developing the design of system/software and associated design documentation, representing the company to customers, co-contractors, competitors, or other elements within JT4, and implementing design through software coding or hardware and documenting the design implementation. Maintaining high visibility to the customer and JT4 senior management, and providing or facilitating synthesis between multiple technical and management disciplines within the company and those provided by coworkers are also key aspects of this role. Establishing and maintaining positive customer relations is essential.

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree in an associated discipline and a minimum of fourteen years of related experience OR a master's degree in an associated discipline and a minimum of ten years of experience OR a PhD in an associated discipline and a minimum of eight years of experience.
  • Demonstrated expertise with computer-based systems and applications.
  • Senior-level programming skills in languages used for job-specific programming tasks.
  • Senior-level expertise in the application of industry standard hardware and software design and documentation techniques.
  • Extensive knowledge of systems engineering and software development lifecycles.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent planning/organizational skills.
  • Ability to work under deadlines.
  • Comfortable working both independently and collaborating with technical and non-technical users directly.
  • Strong experience in C#/.NET geared towards desktop application development.
  • Experience in creating highly customized WPF front-end designs.
  • U.S. citizenship is required.

Nice To Haves

  • 5-7 years of direct experience with C#, a minimum of 1-2 years of WPF.
  • Strong experience with async/await and parallelism.
  • Direct experience in ownership of object-oriented designs following SOLID design principles and well-known design patterns.
  • Experience with SQL, LINQ, GIT/data repositories.
  • Experience optimizing applications for large data sets, updates, virtualization and rendering.
  • Experience in government, defense, engineering, aerospace, data analysis or scientific environments.
  • Hands-on experience visualizing data using LightningCharts software.

Responsibilities

  • Provide senior-level software and systems engineering services.
  • Develop and maintain high-performance applications that handle large sets of data to provide a polished, intuitive user experience.
  • Work across the full application stack: data ingestion, databases, APIs, processing, business logic, and UI/UX.
  • Contribute to modernizing existing tools, improving application performance, and building reusable UI-components.
  • Function as a technical lead, technical manager, or system architect of multiple projects.
