About The Position

JT4, LLC provides engineering and technical support to multiple western test ranges for the U.S. Air Force, Space Force, and Navy under the Joint Range Technical Services Contract, better known as J-Tech II. JT4 develops and maintains realistic, integrated test and training environments and prepares our nation's war-fighting aircraft, weapons systems, and aircrews for today's missions and tomorrow's global challenges. The Computer Scientist - openMCT will direct software and systems engineering services, within a working group. You will identify potential risks, provide technical guidance, foster collaboration to achieve development goals, maintain thorough documentation, and ensure system stability to meet schedule test goals.

Requirements

  • Expert proficiency in Java and enterprise frameworks (e.g., Spring Boot) for modular software design.
  • Strong understanding of HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript (ES6+)/TypeScript, and modern web development practices.
  • Expert experience with designing and implementing REST APIs, WebSockets, and real-time data integration between Java backends and Vue frontends.
  • Ability to work with time-series/telemetry data.
  • Strong debugging skills using browser developer tools, as well as testing frameworks for both frontend (e.g., Vitest, Jest) and backend (e.g., JUnit, Mockito).
  • Proficiency with Git and collaborative source control workflows (e.g., branching strategies, code reviews).
  • A bachelor's degree in an associated discipline and a minimum of 4 years of related experience. Or a master's degree in an associated discipline and a minimum of 2 years of experience. Or a PhD in an associated discipline.
  • Experience with computer-based systems and applications.
  • Programming skills in languages used for job-specific programming tasks.
  • Familiarity with the application of industry standard hardware and software design and documentation techniques.
  • Experience with systems engineering and software development lifecycles.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Good planning/organizational skills.
  • The candidate must possess a valid, state issued driver's license.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain security clearance.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen.

  • Knowledge of aerospace/mission control telemetry concepts.
