About The Position

The selected candidate will support software development activities for the Federal Aviation Administration's (FAA) Research and Development Human Factors Lab (RDHFL) laboratory at the William J. Hughes Technical Center (WJHTC) in Pomona, NJ. Candidates should possess a foundation in software engineering and programming concepts. Participate in software development, testing, integration, and troubleshooting activities Develop and maintain software applications utilizing a variety of programming languages and technologies Support research, prototyping, and simulation activities, including projects utilizing the Godot game engine Collaborate with engineers, researchers, and stakeholders to develop innovative solutions supporting FAA research initiatives.

Requirements

  • 0-2 years of relevant experience
  • Knowledge of computer programming languages and software development principles
  • Experience developing software applications using languages such as Python, C++, Java, JavaScript, Tcl, or Bash
  • Ability to analyze, troubleshoot, and resolve software and system issues
  • Strong analytical, written, and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with the Godot game engine is preferred
  • Familiarity with web development technologies such as HTML, CSS, TypeScript, Node.js, or similar technologies is preferred
  • Familiarity with Git or other version control systems is preferred
  • Experience developing or supporting educational, training, or instructional software/content is preferred
