About The Position

This position is available only to enrolled American University students. Most student positions at American University are eligible to use Federal Work Study (FWS) awards, with a few exceptions. FWS funds cannot be applied to janitorial, construction, partisan or sectarian positions. A Teaching Assistant (TA) for courses within the Computer Science Department’s duties may vary, but can include assistance with grading, designing assignments, conducting office hours, and assisting with in-class labs. Please discuss these with your assigned instructor to establish the expectations of the role and a schedule of working hours that is suitable for you both. As a matter of university policy, you are not expected to provide final grades or assessments for student work, but you may assist with grading by providing your feedback to the instructor.
