The Prescott School District operates a 4 day school week (Monday-Thursday). This position requires the teacher to exhibit accurate knowledge of content and pedagogy, as well as knowledge of students' individual development, special needs, skills, and knowledge. The teacher will select and use appropriate resources, adhere to each student's Individualized Education Program (IEP) and 504 plan, and build and design coherent lessons, activities, and assessments of rigor that match learning standards. A positive learning environment will be created through respect, rapport, and effective classroom procedures with minimal loss of instruction. The teacher will effectively supervise students, manage student behavior, and communicate effectively with students. Conferring with parents, guardians, other teachers, counselors, and administrators to resolve student behavioral and academic problems is also a key responsibility. The role involves exhibiting high expectations and effective lesson delivery, demonstrating effective questioning and discussion techniques, and providing timely, consistent, and high-quality feedback. The use of assessments during instruction and flexibility in responding to student learning are expected. Teachers are required to reflect on their teaching and make adjustments for greater understanding and student achievement. Maintaining accurate and complete records, selecting, storing, ordering, issuing, and inventorying classroom equipment, materials, and supplies are also part of the role. Effective communication with families regarding children's progress and needs is essential. Participation and contributions to the professional community, continued professional growth and development, and professionalism with students, staff, and parents are expected. The teacher must report suspected child endangerment, neglect, or abuse to proper authorities and enforce all administration policies and rules governing students. Attendance at professional meetings, educational conferences, and professional development sessions is required. Responsibilities include assisting in student supervision (e.g., libraries, hallways, cafeterias, bus loading/unloading) and sponsoring extracurricular activities such as clubs, student organizations, and academic contests. Other duties as assigned by the Principal or other administrators will also be performed.
