The University of St. Thomas (UST) Center for Microgrid Research is seeking a Computer or Embedded Systems Engineer for a project funded by the US Department of Defense, focusing on the Tactical Microgrid Standard (MIL-STD-3071). This grant-funded position is initially a one-year, benefits-eligible term appointment, with potential for renewal up to three years based on performance, department needs, and funding availability. The engineer will contribute to research on the reliability, security, and resilience of cyber-physical power and energy systems, including communication system design, modeling, analysis, control architecture design, communication-based control and optimization, and system integration and testing. The role involves conducting independent research and development, generating new ideas, contributing to research proposals, collaborating with faculty, staff, and students, preparing publications, and presenting work at conferences. Access to controlled unclassified information (CUI) and export control data is required without university support. An offer is contingent upon proof of authorization to work in the U.S. and confirmation of the ability to receive CUI/export control data.
