About The Position

BAE Systems is seeking an experienced Computer/Network Technician to join its technical team at the Surface Combat Systems Center (SCSC) in Wallops Island, Virginia. SCSC provides live and simulated integrated warfare capabilities in a net-centric maritime environment for developing, testing, evaluating, and conducting fleet operations and training. It is the premier land-based test site for the Aegis and SSDS Navy shipboard platforms. Its mission includes research and development, training, fleet emergent testing, system integration, and hardware/software certification. The position performs system administration on SCSC tactical information systems and supports Navy combat systems, tactical computer systems, and networks. The technician troubleshoots, maintains, repairs, monitors, and conducts access control and log analysis, as well as troubleshooting and repairing tactical hardware and software. The selected candidate must be eligible to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret security clearance and will have a contingent offer and delayed start until at least an interim clearance is granted if they do not already hold an active Secret clearance.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED and at least 5 years of experience supporting Navy combat systems, tactical computer systems, and networks.
Demonstrated experience assessing and troubleshooting Navy combat systems, tactical computer systems, and networks; performing corrective and preventative maintenance; and performing system administrator duties.
U.S. citizenship and eligibility to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret security clearance. Candidates without an active Secret clearance will receive a contingent offer and their start date will be delayed until an interim Secret clearance is granted.
IT-1 level clearance per SECNAV M-5510.30.
If not already PQS 301 qualified, obtain PQS 301 qualification within the first 3 months of employment.
If not currently Security+ certified, obtain Security+ certification within 6 months of the date of hire.

Nice To Haves

Active DoD Secret security clearance.
Navy Maintenance Certification in accordance with PQS-301, NAVEDTRA 43241-K.
Information Assurance Technician (IAT) Level 2 or higher certification in current networking technologies, operating systems, or information security, as per DoD Directive 8570.
Red Hat and network device experience, including support for Cisco routers and switches and IBM BladeCenters in a Linux Red Hat environment.
