About The Position

Customer: The Joint Counterintelligence Training Activity (JCITA) is a Department of War's joint training organization. JCITA serves as the DoW’s central authority for standardized counterintelligence (CI) training, education, and professional development across the military services, combatant commands, and select interagency partners. Its mission is to develop, deliver, and sustain joint CI training programs that prepare military, civilian, and contractor personnel to detect, deter, and defeat foreign intelligence threats targeting U.S. forces, operations, technologies, and national security interests. JCITA designs and executes advanced, and specialized CI courses covering areas such as counterespionage, insider threat detection, CI collections and investigations, counterintelligence support to operations, offensive and defensive CI methodologies, cyber-enabled threats, and analytic tradecraft. The organization ensures training standardization across the joint force while integrates real-world threat intelligence into curriculum, and maintains alignment with DoW doctrine, policy, and operational priorities. Position Summary – Computer Network Engineer for Training Systems The Computer Network Engineer for Training Systems is responsible for the design, implementation, administration, and sustainment of secure network infrastructures that support mission-critical training environments. This role ensures the availability, integrity, and security of all network systems and associated hardware and software used in support of course delivery and operational training requirements. The Computer Network Engineer for Training Systems designs, drafts, implements, and troubleshoots equipment and software installation plans based on approved system requirements and technical specifications. The Network Engineer maintains all components of the network infrastructure, proactively identifying and resolving performance or security issues to ensure continuous and reliable operations. Responsibilities include monitoring network firewalls, conducting detailed log analysis, implementing Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs), and assessing network device functionality to ensure information assurance compliance and daily patch management of security software. The Computer Network Engineer for Training Systems combines technical proficiency, cybersecurity discipline, and operational reliability to ensure secure, compliant, and high-performing network environments that directly support mission readiness and training effectiveness.

Requirements

  • The position requires the development and implementation of system usage policies in accordance with course requirements and established technical standards.
  • The Network Engineer configures and manages both Microsoft Windows Active Directory and Linux-based network environments and possesses demonstrated experience in network architecture deployment and virtual machine implementation.
  • The role also requires hands-on experience managing virtual environments and utilizing logging and monitoring tools such as SPLUNK to support cybersecurity and operational oversight.
  • Qualified candidates must demonstrate expertise in network engineering and administration through a combination of DoW and/or Federal Government-recognized industry training, certifications, and progressively responsible professional experience.
  • Experience and education must meet the requirements commensurate with DoW Information Assurance Technical (IAT) Level II as defined in DoW 8570.01-M and related issuances.
  • Required certifications include Security+ CE (or equivalent IAT Level II certification) and Microsoft Windows 10 (or higher) operating system certification, or an equivalent Linux designation.
  • Required TS/SCI with ability to obtain CI Poly.
  • Expert: 10 years demonstrated experience related to the specific labor category with at least a portion of the experience within the last 2 years.
