About The Position

SAIC is seeking a highly experienced Computer Engineer to provide senior-level technical leadership for designing, acquiring, integrating, and deploying hardware and computing solutions for mission-critical operations. The role leads development and fielding of enterprise and edge computing infrastructure, including solutions not currently available in existing environments. The engineer works with integration teams, emerging technology platforms, engineering organizations, and operational stakeholders to address physical and deployment constraints using small-form-factor computing, mobile servers, workstations, and related hardware. The position requires computer engineering expertise, technical leadership, hardware lifecycle management, and delivery of reliable computing solutions across geographically distributed environments. This is an onsite role in San Diego, California, with up to 10% CONUS/OCONUS travel.

  • Must be a U.S. citizen.
  • Must have an active Secret clearance to start and be able to obtain a TS/SCI clearance after starting.
  • Extensive experience in computer engineering, hardware engineering, systems integration, infrastructure engineering, or related technical disciplines supporting complex computing environments.
  • Experience designing, acquiring, building, integrating, testing, installing, and sustaining computer hardware and supporting software.
  • Experience leading engineers or multidisciplinary technical teams in hardware acquisition, integration, installation, deployment, or sustainment.
  • Strong understanding of computing hardware architectures, servers, workstations, storage, networking components, peripherals, and supporting infrastructure.
  • Experience translating technical requirements into hardware solutions that address performance, interoperability, environmental, deployment, and operational constraints.
  • Experience with system design and redesign, hardware upgrades, technology refreshes, field changes, configuration management, and lifecycle planning.
  • Experience managing engineering schedules, technical tasks, dependencies, equipment requirements, and customer delivery milestones.
  • Experience developing and maintaining technical documentation for hardware designs, configurations, installation, maintenance, and sustainment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and ability to collaborate on complex technical challenges across multidisciplinary engineering teams.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including providing technical direction and communicating recommendations, risks, tradeoffs, and status to technical, program, and operational stakeholders.
