About The Position

KBR is seeking a Computer Engineer to support advanced communications and cyber research efforts. In this role, you will design, develop, integrate, and evaluate complex systems used to analyze modern communications technologies. You will work across hardware, software, networking, RF, and embedded technologies to develop new capabilities, architect technical solutions, and build sophisticated laboratory environments. The ideal candidate is a hands-on engineer with a strong technical foundation and a passion for solving challenging problems. This position requires the ability to rapidly learn unfamiliar technologies, assess emerging capabilities, and apply engineering principles to develop innovative solutions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering.
  • 4-8 years of relevant engineering experience.
  • Experience designing, integrating, and evaluating complex technical systems.
  • Experience with networking technologies, network protocols, and distributed systems.
  • Experience working with hardware/software interfaces and system integration activities.
  • Experience conducting technical research and evaluating emerging technologies.
  • Experience using programming or scripting languages such as Python, C, C++, or similar languages.
  • Ability to read technical documentation and rapidly learn unfamiliar technologies.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree in Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering.
  • Experience with software-defined radio platforms such as Ettus USRP, BladeRF, HackRF, LimeSDR, or similar technologies.
  • Experience designing and integrating laboratory, prototype, research, or test environments.
  • Experience with RF communications systems, wireless technologies, tactical communications systems, satellite communications systems, or networking technologies.
  • Experience with communications protocols, waveform technologies, or communications architectures.
  • Experience with digital signal processing concepts and communications theory.
  • Experience with embedded systems, FPGA-based systems, or custom hardware platforms.
  • Experience using RF test equipment such as spectrum analyzers, oscilloscopes, signal generators, vector signal analyzers, or similar equipment.
  • Experience performing system-level analysis, integration, and technical evaluation of communications technologies.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop laboratory architectures supporting communications research, testing, and evaluation.
  • Research and evaluate communications technologies, hardware platforms, networking technologies, and emerging capabilities.
  • Integrate software-defined radios, communications hardware, embedded systems, sensors, networking equipment, and computing platforms into cohesive technical solutions.
  • Develop system architectures, interface definitions, integration approaches, and technical implementation plans.
  • Evaluate communications protocols, waveform implementations, system interoperability, and end-to-end system performance.
  • Support laboratory development activities including hardware selection, capability planning, system design, and technical trade studies.
  • Perform technical analysis of communications systems and supporting technologies.
  • Support system testing, experimentation, validation, and technical assessments.
  • Document technical findings and communicate results to engineering teams and government stakeholders.
