Requirements

Graduate of accredited Radiologic Technology program
No experience required (for new hires)
ARRT Registered and registered in CT
CPR certified
SCRQSA certification (Required for team members working in South Carolina)
Excellent customer service skills
Basic computer skills
Data entry skills

Responsibilities

Identifies patients and procedures.
Communicates with nursing or physician concerning patient.
Informs nursing of patients that need IV sedation or biopsies.
Fills out questionnaires on all patients between the ages of 12-55 yrs. old.
Positions patients accurately for all CT procedures, ensuring correct positioning for optimal visibility.
Knows scanning protocols in depth and performs procedures correctly using the protocol book for reference.
Completes studies in a timely manner and takes them to the radiologist for interpretation as soon as possible.
Writes the time the procedure is finished and filmed on the patient board.
Archives films and takes them to the radiologist for reading.
Obtains appropriate supplies and prepares the room for the patient, keeping it cleaned and stocked at all times.
Ensures adequate supplies and linens are always available and cleans tables and trays after each patient.
Uses proper technique when injecting IV contrast, ensuring the IV is working and checked first with saline.
Chooses the correct method of injection (hand or injector).
Proficiently films from the imaging workstation, including 3D imaging and multiplanar reconstruction.
Responds to codes and other emergency situations appropriately.
Explains the CT procedure to the patient and/or family member.
Obtains completed questionnaire and proper history and clinical information from the patient, floor, or physician's office.
Informs patients and families of all delays.
Trains co-workers and students.
Assists other technologists when not busy in the assigned CT room.
Acquires requisitions and checks for appropriate clinical information.
Charges procedures, supplies, and surgical codes when the exam is completed.
Indicates no-film badge wearing name and fluoro time.
Adds surgical charges when needed.
Operates the PAC's system appropriately and verifies studies before sending to archive.
Reports equipment problems to the supervisor and in-charge tech, documenting confirmation numbers.
Completes appropriate forms for all procedures, including contrast sheets for IV and rectal contrast, and CT forms.
Communicates with the radiologist to determine appropriate protocols for each exam.
Utilizes correct protocols as prescribed by the radiologist and performs procedures as directed.
Demonstrates recognition of anatomy and pathology as related to the scan being processed.
Performs warm-up calibrations as needed.
Maintains competency needed for working in the CT department.
Performs point-of-care testing.
Performs other duties as assigned.
