About The Position

Under the direction of the manager and the in-charge technologist, the CT Technologist is expected to perform a variety of procedures applying ionizing radiation. Performance of specific tasks is indicated below for CT purpose according to the department policy. Positive contribution to interpersonal relationships concerning all parties is according to Prisma Health policy. Performs CT scans as directed by the Radiologist/Manager. Communicates with the physician and other work-related personnel appropriately. This position is bonus eligible.

Requirements

Graduate of accredited Radiologic Technology program
No experience required.
ARRT Registered and registered in CT
CPR
SCRQSA certification (Required for team members working in South Carolina)
Excellent customer service skills
Basic computer skills
Data entry skills

Responsibilities

Identifies patients and procedures.
Communicates with nursing or physician concerning patient.
Informs nursing of patients that need IV sedation or biopsies.
Fills out questionnaires on all patients between the ages of 12-55 yrs. old.
Positions patients accurately for all CT procedures.
Know scanning protocols in depth.
Must be able to perform procedures correctly using protocol book for reference.
Studies must be done in a timely manner and taken to the radiologist for interpretation as soon as possible after completion of exam.
Writes time procedure is finished and filmed on patient board.
Films must be archived and taken to radiologist for reading.
Obtains appropriate supplies and prepares room for patient.
Keeps room cleaned and stocked at all times.
Adequate supplies and linens must always be available.
Tables and trays must be cleaned after each patient.
Uses proper technique when injecting IV contrast.
Ensures IV is working and checked first with an injection of saline.
Chooses correct method of injection (hand or injector).
Must be proficient in filming from imaging workstation.
Performs 3D imaging and multiplanar reconstruction.
Responds to codes and other emergency situations appropriately.
Explains CT procedure to patient and/or family member.
Obtains completed questionnaire and proper history and clinical from patient, floor or physician's office.
Informs patients and families of all delays.
Trains co-workers and students.
Assists other technologists when not busy in assigned CT room.
Acquires requisition and checks for appropriate clinical.
Charges procedure, supplies and surgical codes when exam is completed.
Indicates no-film badge wearing name and fluoro time.
Adds surgical charges when needed.
Operates the PAC’s system appropriately and verifies studies before sending to archive.
Reports equipment problems to supervisor, in-charge tech and documents confirmation numbers.
Completes appropriate forms for all procedures.
Fills out contrast sheet on all patients receiving IV and rectal contrast.
Fills out a contrast media form on all patients.
Fills out CT forms on all patients.
Communicates with radiologist to determine appropriate protocols for each exam.
Utilizes correct protocols as prescribed by the radiologist.
Performs procedures as directed by the radiologist.
Performs correct scans as performed.
Demonstrates recognition of anatomy and pathology as related to scan being processed.
Performs warm up calibrations as needed.
Maintains competency needed for working in the CT department.
Performs point of care testing.
Performs other duties as assigned.
