About The Position

Sanford Health, the largest rural health system in the United States, is dedicated to transforming the health care experience and providing access to world-class health care in America’s heartland. This position is in a fast-paced CT department in an acute care setting, working with emergency, urgent care, and inpatient populations. The CT Technologist performs diagnostic computed tomography (CT) scan images, produces quality computed tomography exam images, and exercises professional judgment in the performance of procedures. The role involves providing patient care, initiating life support measures as necessary, and interacting effectively with patients, physicians, family members, department staff, and healthcare workers. The technologist must possess the skills and knowledge to operate CT equipment, perform related procedures and protocols, learn new technology, and orient new employees. They must also be able to professionally obtain information from patients or their responsible parties to improve personalized treatment and care, and work well with all age groups. Sanford Rural Network Facilities sites may expand job responsibilities based on facility needs, potentially including on-call rotation nights, weekends, and holidays. Additional duties may include performing basic diagnostic radiology tasks, mobile imaging, electrocardiogram (EKG), cardiac monitor placement, and dual energy x-ray absorptiometry (DEXA) procedures.

Requirements

  • Satisfactory completion of formal Radiologic Technology training in an American Medical Association (AMA) approved school or Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JCERT) accredited program is required.
  • American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) certification is required at the time of hire.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) and I.V. certification within six weeks of employment and re-certification as necessary is required.
  • If working in North Dakota and performing medical imaging or radiation therapy procedures, licensure through the North Dakota Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy (NDMIRT) Board is required.
  • In the state of Iowa, all technologists must have a permit to practice through the Iowa Department of Public Health in order to practice in the state of Iowa.

Nice To Haves

  • Computerized Tomography (CT) training or experience preferred.
  • Per Diagnostic Imaging Center of Excellence (DICOE) and American College of Radiology (ACR) accreditation requirements, CT certification obtained within two years is preferred.
  • If working in Aberdeen, South Dakota (SD), CT certification is required within 24 months of hire.
