Compute Capacity Acquisition

fal•San Francisco, CA
•$200,000 - $250,000

About The Position

fal is hiring for a technical and commercial role responsible for securing the GPUs fal needs at the right price and time. The position owns relationships with hyperscalers and neoclouds, tracks available capacity and its cost, evaluates supplier offerings, negotiates terms with the deal team, and develops a view of compute-market conditions. The role is neither sales nor a procurement desk. It translates fleet operations requirements and demand forecasts into sourcing plans and turns market analysis into concrete capacity decisions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science, business, economics, or a related field.
  • 5+ years in compute or infrastructure capacity, sourcing, partnerships, or strategy at a hyperscaler, neocloud, GPU marketplace, chip vendor, OEM, or AI infrastructure company.
  • Technical fluency with GPUs, servers, and data center infrastructure sufficient to evaluate supplier offerings.
  • Commercial judgment, comfort with unit economics and contract structure, and an understanding of when a price may indicate a problem.
  • Track record of building relationships across large, complex organizations.
  • Willingness to travel to evaluate sites and infrastructure in person.

Nice To Haves

  • Existing relationships at hyperscalers or major neoclouds, including NVIDIA cloud partners.
  • Experience managing allocation, forecasting, or partner standing directly with NVIDIA or a tier-1 OEM.

Responsibilities

  • Build deep, multi-level relationships with hyperscalers and neoclouds, including NVIDIA cloud partners, so fal is a first call when capacity becomes available.
  • Evaluate capacity offers from the GPU through the data center, including hardware generation, node and rack configuration, interconnect, power density, and cooling; assess expected real-world performance rather than relying only on specifications.
  • Track pricing by GPU generation, region, and contract term; explain price movements and advise when fal should buy, wait, or switch.
  • Work with the deal team to negotiate capacity commitments, deposits and payment timing, SLAs, and remedies, and carry agreements through to signature.
  • Translate GPU requirements from the fleet operations team and demand forecasts into sourcing plans covering suppliers, regions, and terms.
  • Form and defend a view on supply coming online, platform transitions such as new GPU generations, and regional or policy shifts, and turn that view into sourcing decisions.

Benefits

  • Visa sponsorship and assistance with relocation to San Francisco.
  • Health, dental, and vision insurance (US).
  • Regular team events and offsites.
  • Equity and a comprehensive benefits package.
  • Interesting and challenging work.
  • Learning and growth opportunities.
