About The Position

Cahira Technologies Inc is an MIT spinoff company, and we have built the world’s first autonomous and non-surgical electronic implant to create seamless brain computer symbiosis for treating intractable neural diseases and for human augmentation. We are seeking Computational Neuroscientists to be the bridge between complex brain data, clinical insights, and our AI development. This role is crucial for ensuring the scientific validity and clinical impact of our personalized neuro-interventions.

Requirements

  • PhD in Computational Neuroscience, Neuroscience, Biomedical Engineering, or a related field with a strong computational focus.
  • 3+ years of experience (academic or industry) analyzing complex human or animal neurophysiological data.
  • Deep expertise in at least two of the following neuroimaging/electrophysiology modalities: EEG, fMRI, LFP, or single-unit spike recordings.
  • Strong proficiency in data analysis and statistical modeling using Python or MATLAB.
  • Demonstrated understanding of brain circuits and mechanisms underlying cognitive functions (memory, attention, learning) AND neurological diseases.
  • Experience with principles and applications of non-invasive brain stimulation (tDCS, tACS, TMS) and/or invasive neuromodulation (DBS).
  • Strong publication record in relevant journals.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with large-scale, multimodal clinical datasets.
  • Familiarity with machine learning concepts and eager to collaborate in an AI-driven environment.
  • Experience with regulatory considerations for medical devices (even if just awareness).

Responsibilities

  • Act as the primary domain expert, guiding the interpretation and integration of diverse existing data types including EEG, fMRI, Local Field Potentials (LFP), single-spike recordings, behavioral tests, and clinical data (e.g., blood tests, symptom scales).
  • Collaborate closely with AI/ML Engineers to define research questions, select appropriate datasets, and develop neurobiologically informed features for AI models.
  • Lead the validation of AI models to ensure their neuroscientific plausibility and clinical utility in predicting brain states and designing optimal stimulation parameters.
  • Contribute to the scientific strategy for both cognitive enhancement and disease-specific neuromodulation (e.g., Parkinson's, epilepsy, depression, brain cancer, Alzheimer’s).
  • Develop robust methodologies for translating AI-derived insights into practical neuromodulation protocols.
  • Contribute to scientific publications, intellectual property, and represent the company at scientific conferences.
