About The Position

The candidate will be responsible for improving data input and output extraction workflows within a widely used Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) solver that addresses complex aerodynamic problems across multiple flight regimes, from rotorcraft and aircraft to launch vehicles and reentry systems. This role provides a unique opportunity to enhance a tool relied upon by researchers and engineers across NASA centers and throughout the U.S. aerospace industry. Approximate salary range for this position is $73,000-$100,000 commensurate with education and experience. Requirements

Bachelor's degree or higher in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering. Applied Mathematics, Computer Science, or related field
Familiarity with CFD concepts.
Strong programming skills in languages such as Python, C++, or Fortran.
Experience with High Performance Computing and MPI.
Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
U.S. Citizenship or Permanent Residence

Nice To Haves

Proficiency with Fortran.
Familiarity with structured-grid CFD algorithms and applications
Experience with GPU programming.
Completion of a Master’s or Ph.D. degree in a relevant field.

Implement efficient algorithms for grid compression and solution compression.
Explore approaches for a movable data extraction surface for wall modelling efforts.
Collaborate with the team to enhance the efficiency of the code framework.
Document findings and present them to stakeholders.
