Perform professional work in support of scientific research using technical knowledge of software, software development, networking, and/or hardware in a complex computing environment. Subject matter expert in multiple areas of computing technology, and specific knowledge of molecular biology and genetics. Works collaboratively with Principal Investigator ("PI") to determine the most suitable computational methods and tools to analyze large-scale biological data sets. Prepare reports for presentation or publication. Responsible for assisting PI in meeting the system needs for multiple research projects and/or labs. The Ghersi Lab focuses on computational approaches to understand life at the molecular level, with a strong emphasis on cancer genomics, immunoinformatics, and structural bioinformatics. The Computational Biologist I will assist Dr. Ghersi in his bio-informational data processing and gathering. This job will require a working knowledge of both statistics and bio-information techniques. They will be responsible for helping to establish the Ghersi lab and to work with other UTSW groups.
