In this role, you will be responsible for assembling precision compressor units and subassemblies from aerospace-grade machined parts, working to engineering drawings, tolerances, and specifications. You will read and interpret engineering drawings, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T), schematics, and bills of materials; assemble to torque, fit, and tolerance specs using calibrated hand and power tools. You will also write, refine, and maintain assembly SOPs and work instructions, working from partial or incomplete inputs and determining what needs to be created versus updated. Performing in-process and final quality checks, including leak and pressure testing of assembled units, recording results, and maintaining build records, inspection sign-offs, and part traceability are key responsibilities. You will support incoming inspection of machined parts and partner with supply chain on supplier quality and nonconforming material. Additionally, you will partner directly with design engineers and the R&D team on assembly feedback, design-for-assembly, and first-article builds. Maintaining a clean, organized workspace with foreign object debris (FOD) control, and following all safety and PPE protocols are essential. You will contribute to the continuous improvement of assembly processes as production scales and help establish the assembly standards, documentation, and training that a growing technician team will work from.
