The role of Compression Engineer I is responsible for engineering support and design by performing a variety of tasks including, but not limited to, compressor performance analysis, process design, ASME code calculations, technical completion of equipment data sheets, and interpretation of project specifications. The candidate will perform engineering and design of compressor packages by providing project management with a clearly defined project scope of work for fabrication. This project scope of work and estimate will be used to execute current opportunities. The role uses a broad range of process, mechanical, and instrumentation engineering capabilities to evaluate, develop, model, and optimize ideas in support of capital projects and operational issues. It evaluates mechanical, electromechanical, and process systems and products by applying previous experience as well as principles of mechanics, thermodynamics, hydraulics, heat transfer, and materials. The role develops natural gas compressors and associated products by studying customer requirements while considering manufacturing and assembly methods and materials. It assures product quality by monitoring product and system capabilities; confirming fabrication, assembly, and installation processes. The candidate will confer with project stakeholders, operations, management, vendors and various subject matter experts to develop a proposed project scope definition and insure the validity of the design through its execution. The role will work closely with the design team to develop all assembly and fabrication drawings. It will develop bill of materials, including but not limited to valves, PSVs, and instrumentation. The candidate will professionally report technical findings and insight to aid the collaborative decision-making process. The role interfaces with project managers, fabrication teams and outside providers of engineering services to support work effort as needed. It may support estimating functions by performing engineering evaluations and technical feasibility related to new business development opportunities. The candidate will continually develop proficiency in software packages such as those used for compressor performance, process simulation, and ASME code calculations.
