About The Position

Mixlab, a fast-growing veterinary compounding pharmacy, is hiring a Compounding Pharmacy Technician for its New York pharmacy. This role is ideal for someone detail-oriented and driven to provide excellent service to customers and their pets. The technician will be crucial in ensuring smooth operations and making Mixlab a dependable resource. This is a part-time position requiring approximately 16 hours per week. Individuals with strong mathematical calculation skills and minimal/no compounding experience may be considered.

Requirements

  • At least 2 years of experience working as a pharmacy technician directly with pharmacists in a compounding pharmacy.
  • Experience working in veterinary care or the medical field, or a strong interest in working in the field.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Customer-focused (and pet-focused!) mindset.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Excellent communication skills - both written and verbal.
  • Collaborative, team-player.
  • All-hands-on-deck attitude with an ability to remain calm and excel under pressure.
  • Ability to learn and adapt to new processes and procedures.
  • Strong sense of ownership and accountability.
  • Scrappy and resourceful.
  • Willingness to wear multiple hats and pitch in to help the team when necessary.
  • Flexibility to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Must love pets and their people!
  • Excellent hand-eye coordination.
  • Ability to move, lift, or carry up to thirty (30) pounds.

Nice To Haves

  • Minimal/no compounding experience but excel in mathematical calculations.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the compounding of nonsterile pharmaceutical preparations including but not limited to capsules, oral liquids, topical medications, otic preparations, and medicated treats under the supervision of the managing pharmacist.
  • Consistently meet standards of accuracy and potency.
  • Package and label prescriptions, including bulk medications.
  • Monitor inventory levels, re-order low inventory or expiring chemicals, and receive new inventory.
  • Adhere to USP guidelines as related to non-sterile compounding.
  • Perform environmental monitoring and cleaning tasks as indicated in SOPs.
  • Assist team members and problem solve with pharmacist’s support.
