About The Position

The Technician Compounding Pharmacy III plays a pivotal role in the pharmacy's operations. The Technician assists pharmacists in processing orders and coordinating patient care. Especially instrumental in the preparation and dispensing of medications and supplies, the role demands keen attention to detail and a profound commitment to patient care. The Compounding Pharmacy Technician is the primary liaison between the pharmacy and its patients, ensuring the efficient processing of prescriptions and consistently delivering top-notch customer service. In addition, the Technician is required to work in a clean room compounding medication at least 50% of the time to help ensure safe, accurate, and smooth compounding operations. The Technician plays a crucial role in the preparation and dispensing of IV therapies by ensuring strict adherence to aseptic techniques and compliance with USP 797 & 800 guidelines. Lastly, this position demands meticulous attention to detail, a deep understanding of sterile compounding procedures, and an unwavering commitment to patient safety.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Minimum of 4 years of pharmacy technician experience required.
  • Must be licensed or registered (if required by the state).
  • Successful enrollment and completion of the AltaMed designated training course within 6 months of hire (if licensure and/or training course is required by the state).
  • A minimum requirement of a valid BLS certification or higher, following the American Heart Association (AHA) or the American Red Cross guidelines.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous healthcare or pharmacy technician experience is preferred.
