About The Position

The Compound Mix Room Level 1 Mixer position is responsible for performing all tasks required for adhesive mixing and vinyl compounding, from staging materials and setting up equipment to learning all components of the process. This role requires basic math and computer skills for tasks such as printing pick lists, managing jobs in the tracking system, and printing labels. The mixer must maintain a clean and organized work area, follow both written and oral directions, and be capable of working independently or as part of a team. The position operates on the 3rd shift, from 11 pm to 7 am, and reports to Level 2 mixers, the mixing department supervisor, and occasionally coating supervisors.

Works well in a fast-paced team environment with the ability to work well alone.
Self-motivated and interested in learning multiple functions required for the job.
Good mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting ability.
Displays ability and willingness to follow rules and regulations.
Must be detail oriented, thorough, and able to focus and follow tasks through from beginning to end.

Responsibilities

Safe operation of pallet jacks, standup, and sit-down forklifts in a production environment.
Safe operation of heavy-duty air driven equipment and tools including overhead hoist systems.
Gauging distances and having good depth perception to safely operate hoist system and safely retrieve and return items to the warehouse racks.
Standing for the duration of the shift aside from scheduled breaks.
Working in an environment with industrial solvents and pigments.
Following schedule and reading job travelers, pick lists, pulling material from the warehouse following FIFO guidelines.
Transporting raw materials and returning unused or partially used materials to the warehouse with proper documentation when applicable.
Handling, labeling, and storing finished materials properly.
Actively involved in the set-up, mixing/compounding, and cleanup of the mixers, cast tanks, compounding room, and outlying areas.
Learning to fully set up, operate, and clean all equipment necessary to complete all tasks required within the first 6 months.
Performing and having a basic understanding of product testing using a viscometer, PH meter, Hegman gauge, draw down, and spectrophotometer within the first 6 months.
Developing a basic understanding of the adhesive mixing process, cast vinyl compounding and versating process to effectively troubleshoot production and quality problems.
Performing various shop floor transactions including opening jobs, issuing materials, closing jobs, and printing labels.
Heavy lifting, sliding and shifting drums and/or equipment, and lifting 50 pounds repetitively during a shift with the ability to reach, push, and pull, lean, twist, and bend.
Responsible for housekeeping in the area and following the 5S principles.
Differentiating between all colors to effectively perform color testing.
Effectively listening and communicating in a loud and busy environment.
Maintaining a safe working environment and adhering to safety policies.
Handling hazardous waste in a safe and proper manner in accordance with General Formulation, local, state, and federal guidelines.
