About The Position

Bonds a variety of dissimilar materials (composite, metal, or laminate) assemblies, parts, skins, components, equipment or structures into semi-finished or finished products. Lays out articles, cuts parts or materials to size. Applies liquid or solid bonding agents. Operates autoclave, hydraulic presses and ovens to complete bonding cycle. Controls conditions of heat, pressure, and timing by setting and operating various controls according to the specifications for the materials and the bonding agent being used. Sands, burrs and smoothes over areas, apply sealing resins to cut or exposed edges. Monitors and verifies quality of finished product. Completes repairs on composite, metal or laminate bonded products using inspection and rework instructions. Verifies quality of finished product. Fully proficient support individual contributor. Works under limited supervision. May be a resource to other employees in areas of expertise. Assignments are moderately difficult requiring some judgment. Works under limited supervision. Less detailed instructions are provided and minimal peer review is required. Communicates with contacts typically within and outside the department on matters that involve obtaining or providing information requiring explanation or interpretation to understand and reach agreement. May be a resource to other employees in areas of proficiency. Work may be structured within identified boundaries and procedures. Follows established processes to complete tasks. Identifies problems and issues in straightforward situations. Resolves most issues. Works to achieve operational targets within job area which has moderate impact on the overall achievement of results for the team. Work is of moderate scope, typically on larger, task-related activities.

Requirements

  • Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 6 years of prior relevant experience or 2 years post-Secondary/Associates Degree with a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience.
  • Requires ability to be able to read BOM (bill of materials) and assembly drawings.
  • Previous experience working with composites.
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a future Security Clearance is required for the role.
  • Eligibility requires U.S. Citizenship.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in defense manufacturing a plus.
