Anduril designs and builds aircraft, aircraft systems, and aerospace structures for the Defense, Space, and other aerospace-related industries. We are seeking candidates for a Composite Technician to collaborate with the design and integration teams developing AI controlled aerospace structures at our Morrisville, NC location. This role involves cutting, laying-up, fabricating, curing, and assembling various types of composite products and assemblies, including bonded and mechanically fastened assemblies. The technician will utilize a basic knowledge of the physical properties of materials such as thermosets, thermoplastics, and composites, along with their forming and processing characteristics. They will also need to understand the physical and bonding characteristics of materials and adhesives used. When fitting up assemblies, the ability to locate to all critical reference points and ensure coordination of parts and subassemblies to exacting tolerances is crucial. The role includes building laminated assemblies by determining proper placement and laying up composite plies and adhesives onto tools or molds. Preparation for bagging, including placement of bleeders, thermocouples, probes, and vacuum connections, and checking seals for leaks are also key responsibilities. The technician will set up assemblies and parts in various processing and curing equipment, such as an autoclave or oven, to achieve desired set and cure, and operate oven controls to maintain proper temperature, pressure, and time cycles according to engineering specifications. Correcting defects as required is also part of the role.
