Hexcel is currently seeking a Composite Technician I at our Amesbury, MA location. Hours are 7:00am - 3:30PM Monday - Friday. In this role, you will be responsible for the fabrication and assembly of composite materials, ensuring high-quality standards are maintained throughout the manufacturing process. Your expertise will contribute to the development of advanced composite components that are critical to our innovative projects.
Requirements
- High School diploma or general education degree (GED) or equivalent, required.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Must have good attention to detail and be able to follow written directions.
- Have the ability to stand 8 hrs. per day and must be able to lift 50 lbs.
- Legible handwriting as well as good verbal and written communication skills are required.
- Follow all safety policies and procedures, including but not limited to adherence to PPE requirements, compliant handling of chemicals, and safe ergonomic practices.
- Excellent vision; ability to identify defects within the coating process, raw materials and final product.
- Basic mathematical skills required with the ability to convert to/from square to linear feet.
- Must be able to read basic measurements devices and perform mathematical equations and basic computer knowledge.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a DOD Security Clearance.
Nice To Haves
- Previous work experience in aerospace, automotive, or marine manufacturing industries.
- Proficient in the use of tools and equipment for composite fabrication, such as autoclaves and hand tools.
- Knowledge of quality assurance techniques applicable to composite manufacturing.
Responsibilities
- Ability to independently fabricate composite parts using knowledge of various techniques including hand layup, vacuum bagging, and autoclave curing to meet engineering and quality specifications.
- Conduct thorough inspections of composite materials and finished parts to ensure compliance with quality standards.
- Ability to follow detailed work instructions to accurately execute production tasks.
- Collaborate with engineers and other technicians to identify and resolve manufacturing challenges.
- Maintain accurate records of materials used and fabrication processes followed to support traceability and quality assurance efforts utilizing Apriso and AX.
- Proactively participate in our safety-first culture.
