Composite Technician A - Weekend Night Shift
About The Position
L3Harris is seeking a Composite Manufacturing Technician to work at its Advanced Manufacturing Facility (AMF) North in Huntsville, Alabama. AMF North is an inert manufacturing facility for fabrication and assembly of small, medium, and large case composite rocket motor hardware. The role produces composite parts, components, and assemblies using detailed work instructions and manufacturing equipment, and supports production, development, quality, and safety activities. The position is scheduled for a weekend night shift: 12 hours per day, three days per week, Friday through Sunday, from 6:00 p.m. to 6:30 a.m.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 0–3 years of prior relevant experience.
- Ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance.
Responsibilities
- Produce parts, components, and final assemblies through composite fabrication, compression molding, metal fabrication, modification, checkout, rework, quality testing, and assembly, using work instructions, schematics, diagrams, layouts, and manufacturing test or diagnostic equipment.
- Prepare components for lay-up, filament winding, cure, and post-cure using cured and uncured rubber materials and adhesives.
- Operate shop machinery and equipment, including ovens, autoclaves, lathes, milling centers, boring mills, presses, furnaces, mixers, grinders, swages, paint booths, fume hoods, and automated welding equipment.
- Fabricate and assemble piece parts into completed subassemblies using assembly tools.
- Perform vacuum bagging and related composite fabrication and curing processes.
- Complete structural bonding operations using film adhesives, core materials, and adhesives.
- Build complex layups individually and in small groups.
- Insulate mandrels and composite cases.
- Cast, cure, and machine sand mandrels.
- Facilitate and conduct on-the-job training for technicians as required.
- Work with management and supervision to meet critical deadlines.
- Produce development hardware in support of research and development programs.
- Troubleshoot processes and identify, modify, or escalate out-of-control processes and production escapes.
- Coordinate with maintenance, supervision, and/or engineers on equipment setup and calibration.
- Participate in preventative maintenance activities.
- Clean machines, equipment, and work areas according to Standard Operating Procedures.
- Support safety initiatives and adhere to 5S+1 standards.
- Be able to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance.
