This specific role is for a Composite Operator I in New Albany, IN, working the 1st shift from 7 am to 3:30 pm.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED
  • Commitment to working safely and understanding all safety procedures.
  • Operator responsible for following SOPs to assure product is processed according to proper routings, specifications and that the quantity and style are correct.
  • Must be reliable and dependable.
  • Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is required: Safety glasses with side-shields, safety shoes, gloves, and cut resistant gloves when necessary.
  • Use of hands and fingers for fine motor tasks, to operate machinery, and handle tools safely.
  • Visual acuity is necessary for reading gauges, inspecting products, and ensuring quality standards.
  • Physical stamina and the ability to maintain focus during repetitive tasks are essential.

Responsibilities

  • Bonds a variety of dissimilar materials, assembles parts, skins, components, equipment or structures into finished or semi-finished products.
  • Inspects components to ensure they meet established specifications and quality standards.
  • Lays out articles and cuts materials to size according to drawings and specifications.
  • Applies materials to various parts using bonding agents, following specific recipes for liquid bonding agents.
  • Monitors and verifies the quality of finished or semi-finished products using assigned inspection tools and records inspection results.
  • Completes repairs on composite, metal, or laminate bonded products using inspection and rework instructions.
  • Places product into appropriate locations.
  • Separates scrap from good product and documents accurately.
  • Scans correct production information.
  • Trains new operators when required.
  • Troubleshoots quality and process issues from moderate to complex.
  • Works safely and understands all safety procedures.
  • Handles deviations in routine according to operating procedures and/or work instructions.
  • Ensures product is processed according to proper routings and specifications, and that quantity and style are correct.
  • Works to meet daily departmental production goals.
  • Communicates safety, quality, and product issues with supervisors, team members, and across shifts.
  • Runs orders by due date.
  • Follows work instructions and inspection standards.
  • Inspects and modifies tooling as required.
  • Solves moderate to complex problems using learned knowledge of product, production processes, and coordination with technical experts.
