Composite Bonder Technician 1
About The Position
In this position, you will join our Manufacturing Operations Organization within our Aeronautics Systems sector as a Composite Bonder – Level 1 supporting our Clearfield, UT site. We’re seeking a hands-on professional with exceptional attention to detail, a strong commitment to quality, and outstanding interpersonal skills. This position may be filled at varying shift times including weekdays, nights, and weekends (shift differential paid during eligible shifts). Please note: Only external candidates and NG employees who are not currently Composite Bonders at the Clearfield site may be considered under this requisition.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED and a minimum of 9 months structures/composites experience in an aerospace, automotive, military, manufacturing and/or maintenance environment OR completion of approved Aircraft Fabrication or Composites course
- This position requires the ability to perform moderate strenuous physical and repetitious work to include: bending, stooping, kneeling, carrying tools, lifting up to 35 pounds, working overhead or at heights, and accessing small, confined spaces
- Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Secret level clearance and Special Program Access within a reasonable period, as defined by the company to meet its business needs. U.S. Citizenship required for clearance.
- Must successfully complete and pass the “ASTAR New Hire Training / Compliance” within a reasonable time period, as defined by the company to meet its business need
- Ability to work flexible, changing shifts, including weekends
Nice To Haves
- Current/active U.S. Government Secret level clearance
- Experience in aerospace manufacturing
- Demonstrated ability using standard measuring equipment and power hand tools
- Ability to read and interpret schematics, assembly drawings, process specifications, technical manuals, written instructions, test procedures, blueprints, etc.
Responsibilities
- Read and understand blueprints
- Lay out articles, cut parts or materials to size and apply liquid or solid bonding agents
- Understanding of ply orientations and vacuum bagging processes
- Operates autoclave, hydraulic presses and ovens to complete bonding cycle
- Control conditions of heat, pressure, and timing by setting and operating various controls according to the specifications for the materials and the bonding agent being used
- Sand, burs and smooth over areas, apply sealing resins to cut or exposed edges
- Complete repairs on composite, metal or laminate bonded products using inspection and rework instructions
- Monitor and verify quality of finished product
