About The Position

LifeSouth Community Blood Centers is seeking a Components Production Technician in Gainesville, Florida. The role involves safely and precisely handling and processing blood and blood components in a highly regulated environment, preparing components intended for transfusion. This is a part-time position with a starting salary range of $15.75–$17.32 per hour. A criminal background check and drug screen are required upon a conditional offer of hire.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Valid driver's license and ability to meet and maintain LifeSouth driver's eligibility requirements.
• Ability to work evenings, rotating weekends, and holidays.
• Ability to work consistently in a high-volume, fast-paced environment.
• Good manual dexterity and ability to operate equipment.
• Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
• Ability to interpret instructions presented in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
• Ability to perform basic math, including addition, subtraction, proportions, percentages, and scientific notation.
• Ability to perform work requiring frequent standing, walking, lifting, grasping, and repetitive motion; lift up to 50 pounds; and occasionally stoop, squat, push, pull, climb, and lift overhead.

Nice To Haves

• Experience in a laboratory setting.

Responsibilities

• Prepare blood and blood products.
• Perform lab audits, including quarantining, releasing, and disposing of blood products based on disease testing results.
• Filter blood using dockable filters to provide leukoreduced products.
• Perform general maintenance and cleaning of instruments and the department.
• Process and input data.
• Label available apheresis products and quarantine or discard products as necessary.
