About The Position

The Parts, Libraries, and Obsolescence Department seeks a Components Engineer to support the circuit card design process by helping turn designs into robust and reliable products. The role interfaces with internal stakeholders and external suppliers to develop high-quality, producible designs. Team members are exposed to all phases of the circuit card lifecycle, from development through production, and present findings at program design reviews. The position supports Component Engineering by selecting and specifying electrical components, determining whether their applications comply with requirements, and helping ensure cost-effective, robust parts are used. It also involves developing component risk and verification data packages, supporting preferred-parts standardization, addressing obsolescence, and meeting customer component requirements. The role is onsite in Tucson, Arizona. An active and transferable U.S. government-issued security clearance is required before the start date; U.S. citizenship is required for eligibility for a clearance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related STEM field, obtained by the start date.
  • Experience in at least one of the following areas: circuit design, circuit analysis, digital electronics, analog circuits, power design, RF design, or printed circuit board design. Experience may come from on-the-job work, research, coursework, or projects.
  • U.S. citizenship is required because only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
  • An active and transferable U.S. government-issued security clearance is required prior to the start date; ability to obtain an interim U.S. government-issued security clearance is also specified as required prior to the start date.

Nice To Haves

  • Technical working knowledge of electronic components, such as semiconductor, passive, and/or electromechanical commodities, and their application.
  • Board layout experience with single- and multi-lamination boards.
  • Experience in PCB manufacturing and circuit card assembly.

Responsibilities

  • Select and specify electrical components and determine application adherence to ensure cost-effective and robust parts are used.
  • Work with internal stakeholders and external suppliers to develop component risk and verification data packages that support component selections and provide justification to program customers.
  • Identify parts for inclusion on the preferred parts list and drive usage of standardized parts.
  • Recommend ways to mitigate obsolescence issues and identify solutions that meet customer component requirements.
  • Support circuit card development through production and present findings at program design reviews.
