About The Position

The Senior Components Engineer sources, selects, and qualifies components used in the company's technology. Investigates alternate component technologies or supplies, reducing cost and improving quality and reliability. This individual acts as technical interface between component/production suppliers and development engineers, determining new and alternate sources.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering is required or equivalent combination of experience and education
  • Minimum 8 - 12 years of relevant experience
  • Experienced using Altium Designer
  • Extensive design and component supplier experience
  • Demonstrated knowledge of engineering disciplines
  • Demonstrated high understanding of root cause analysis methods
  • Demonstrated proficiency with MS Office and general computer skills

Responsibilities

  • Maintains and provides expertise regarding electronic components and works with electrical engineers, suppliers, and electronics manufacturing to maintain AV's product.
  • Manage a component lifecycle database and obsolete parts.
  • Assists design engineers in the selection of electrical parts that best fit their requirements.
  • Participates in design reviews for the purpose of component selection and standardization.
  • Establishes and maintains a specification system for off-the-shelf parts.
  • Generates specifications for all new component parts.
  • Generates component test procedures.
  • Coordinates failure analysis and corrective activities on component parts
  • Develops guidelines/procedures on vendor selection.
  • Evaluates supplier change notification and qualifies changes, as needed
  • Present at and participate in design reviews and walk-throughs
  • Makes decisions that have significant impact on project costs and schedule.
  • Performs a broad scope of tasks on multiple projects at a time
  • Responsible for significant portions of design or development of complex subsystems or systems, which requires demonstrated expert level skills in object oriented design and applicable Engineering tools & processes
  • Provides technical supervision across disciplines and leads a team or project to accomplish established goals.
  • Provides guidance and mentorship to others in both their discipline and on company values
  • Works independently on significant and unique issues where analysis or situations or data requires an evaluation of intangibles.
  • Uses technical skills and expertise to contribute to development of company objectives and principles to achieve goals in creative and effective ways
