About The Position

S&C Electric Company is seeking a dynamic individual to join our inspection department as a Component Quality Technologist. The Quality Assurance organization provides a variety of services aimed at helping its internal customers, S&C leaders and team members, deliver superior quality to our customers. Quality planning, inspection, audit, quality information, quality improvement consulting, and quality communications are examples of the kind of services that the organization provides. In this job you will be responsible for inspecting fabricated parts, sub-assemblies and final assemblies, including painted components, made from various machines such as shears, punch presses, and welding work centers. You will be required to work with assembly and detailed prints, industry standards, routings, BOMs, specifications, instruction bulletins, and customer notes. Inspecting the products will require you to use various pieces of inspection equipment and the ability to select the appropriate measuring equipment such as tape measures, go/no go gages, special gages, torque wrenches, thread plug gages, fluke meters, and fuses holder standards. The job will require you to clearly communicate verbally and in written format. Abnormal conditions must be clearly recorded on the Checklist, DPU report, and/or on a NMR. All defects will be recorded and clearly explained to assembly team members and shop floor leadership. There will be times when product will be placed on hold until you clearly explain the abnormal conditions to engineers so they can determine if the product could be sent to the customer or needs to be reworked.

Requirements

  • 1-3 years of experience inspecting in a manufacturing environment.
  • Basic understanding of GD&T
  • Basic understanding of Metrology
  • MS Outlook skills.
  • Ability to use shop math.
  • Ability to read and understand mechanical drawings for fabricated parts, mechanical assemblies and specials.
  • Ability to use basic dimensional measuring tools. (mics, calipers, height gage, pins gages, threaded gages, measuring tape)
  • Ability to use a resistance meter.
  • Ability to maintain accurate records.
  • Ability to support departmental team members on short notice.
  • Ability to change your start times on short notice as needed.
  • Ability to work independently in a service-oriented environment.
  • Ability to clearly communicate verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to use a pallet jack and ladder safely.
  • Ability to inspect from elevated heights when necessary.
  • Willingness to learn software such as Oracle, Compliance Quest (QMS), Wriker, and SmarTeam.
  • Ability to navigate to E-Docs and Operating System Documents on SharePoint or E-Vault.

Responsibilities

  • Complete recording of abnormalities on the checklists, DPU reports, and/or non-conforming material reports.
  • Inspecting fabricated parts.
  • Inspecting sub-assemblies.
  • Inspecting final assemblies.
  • An awareness of necessary safety practices and procedures.
  • Maintain appropriate levels of housekeeping.
  • Data entry and reporting on spreadsheets and specific report documentation

  • Estimated annual base salary range for this position is $48,983 - $61,226
  • Eligible for S&C’s annual incentive plan (AIP), subject to eligibility criteria.
