Under supervision of shift supervisor, performs fairly routine work requiring reasonable judgment in the processing of biological components such as RBC, platelets, cryoprecipitate AHF, single donor plasma, source leukocytes, recovered plasma and a variety of special orders. The role involves organizing, identifying, and documenting component production, weighing and loading blood products for centrifugation, applying product labels, and storing components. The technician will also assist in securing quarantined components, performing quality control for laboratory equipment, preparing special patient use requests, and managing biohazard waste. Additionally, the role includes assisting in the RRPL area with organizing, preparing, packing, and shipping non-transfusable products for research, manufacturing, or Clinical Trials, ensuring products are managed according to standard operating procedures and client specifications within a reasonable timeframe. Compliance with OSHA, FDA, AABB, and cGMP standards is mandatory to ensure product accuracy, potency, identity, and safety.
