About The Position

WR has an opportunity for a Component Level Repair Technician to support troubleshooting, repair, testing, and maintenance of electronic equipment and systems at the component level in support of multiple projects.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent.
  • Associate’s Degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, or similar field; OR completion of a formal resident trade school or apprentice program in electronics; OR completion of at least two (2) U.S. Navy “C” schools in electronic equipment or systems.
  • Solder certification level courses including IPC-A-610, IPC J-STD-001, and IPC-A-620.
  • Ten (10)+ years of progressive experience supporting production, integration, installation, repair, troubleshooting, or maintenance of electronic systems or equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, including assembly drawings, schematic diagrams, interconnect drawings, and wire lists.
  • Knowledge of troubleshooting and repairing electronic circuits to the component level.
  • Strong soldering experience with both Through Hole and Surface Mount Technology (SMT) electronic components.
  • Ability to operate electronics-related equipment such as multi-meters, oscilloscopes, regulated DC power supplies, frequency counters, and spectrum analyzers.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • U.S. Navy Miniature/Micro-Miniature Certification (NEC 1591, 9526, 9527) and/or IPC J-STD-001 Certification (Modules 1-6).
  • Completion of U.S. Navy Electronic Technician or equivalent “A” school and “C” school.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot (fault isolate) and repair electronic equipment to the component level.
  • Perform qualification and acceptance testing of electronic equipment utilizing automated test equipment and rack systems.
  • Ensure work products are successfully processed through the repair cycle, quality control, and designated Ready for Issue.
  • Coordinate with Electronics Engineers to resolve technical problems and clarify design details and functional criteria of electronic units.
  • Check functioning of newly installed equipment to evaluate system performance under actual operating conditions.
  • Populate printed circuit boards with through-hole and SMT components to J-STD-001 Standards.
  • Recommend changes in circuitry or installation specifications to simplify assembly and maintenance.

  • Troubleshoot and repair electronic circuits to the component level.
