About The Position

Amentum is seeking a skilled Computer Engineer to support the Strategic Microelectronics Division at Naval Surface Warfare Center - Crane. This entry-level or mid-level position focuses on electrical test automation and development for the strategic microelectronics electrical testing lab. The candidate will be a key contributor to electrical testing of components, with a focus on automated testing, data collection, and analysis. The role involves designing, developing, and maintaining software applications, creating automated scripts for electronic test equipment, implementing automated data collection, and developing software tools for data analysis. The engineer will also assist other test engineers and technicians with component testing and troubleshooting, collaborate on defining software requirements, and identify new testing methodologies. Support for technical design reviews and status updates is also expected.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Strong programming proficiency in Python and National Instruments LabVIEW.
  • Proficiency with Unix/Linux operating systems, including command-line tools and shell scripting.
  • Proficiency with version control systems, specifically Git.
  • Demonstrated experience with at least one of the following: Visual Basic, Visual C++, or JavaScript.
  • Understanding of hardware and software integration, including interfacing test and measurement equipment.
  • Knowledge and lab experience with microelectronics (passives, transistors, op-amps, references, ADC, DAC, etc.)
  • Familiarity with common electronic test equipment such as oscilloscopes, digital multimeters, spectrum analyzers, and power supplies.
  • Excellent problem-solving and debugging skills.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain an active Secret clearance (interim clearance is required to start).
  • US citizenship is required to obtain a Secret Clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain software applications using Python, LabVIEW, Visual Basic, Visual C++, and JavaScript.
  • Create and manage automated scripts and programs to set up and control a wide range of electronic test equipment for validation and characterization.
  • Implement and support automated data collection processes to ensure data integrity and accessibility from test stations.
  • Develop and support software tools for data review, post-processing, and detailed analysis.
  • Assist other test engineers and test technicians with hands-on component testing, data collection, data review, and initial troubleshooting to ensure accurate testing.
  • Work closely with other test engineers and test technicians to define software requirements, troubleshoot test setups, and meet testing requirements.
  • Identify new testing methodologies and propose improvements to existing testing methodologies.
  • Support technical design reviews and provide updates on development plans and status.
