About The Position

TSC’s Production Solution (PS) is currently seeking a Component Engineer to join our team in Huntsville, AL. This role supports TSC Huntsville’s development & production programs focused on radar systems, seekers, and electronic warfare systems. We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented individual to support the management, selection, qualification, and lifecycle of electronic components used in radar, seeker, and other advanced technology products. TSC’s PS team is responsible for the rapid development, demonstration, and initial product rollout of new technologies across the company. The Component Engineer will work closely with engineering, manufacturing, configuration management, quality, and suppliers to support component selection and lifecycle management within a systems engineering and configuration management environment.

Requirements

  • BS degree from an accredited program in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, Chemistry, or a related engineering or technical field.
  • 2-4 years of experience in industry supporting concept and layout design phases with expertise in parts and materials.
  • Basic understanding of electronic components and their applications, including RF, microwave, digital, and analog technologies.
  • Familiarity with electronic components, materials, manufacturing processes, and component qualification or screening concepts.
  • Ability to research and interpret component specifications, datasheets, drawings, and industry standards.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a cross-functional engineering environment.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Clearance.
  • U.S. Citizenship required.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with ECAD/design tools such as OrCAD, Cadence, or SPICE.
  • Familiarity with component management and research tools such as Silicon Expert or similar platforms.
  • Experience working with BOMs and engineering change processes.
  • Familiarity with PLM or ERP systems such as Teamcenter, Omnify, or Costpoint.
  • Basic understanding of electronic component lifecycle management, obsolescence, and the electronics component market.
  • Familiarity with IPC, JEDEC, MIL-STD, or other applicable electronic component standards.
  • Experience working with configuration-controlled engineering documentation.
  • Exposure to failure analysis, root cause analysis, or reliability engineering concepts.
  • Strong technical writing and presentation skills.

Responsibilities

  • Support the maintenance of TSC’s standard parts database and component management tools used to identify, evaluate, and select qualified components.
  • Assist with the creation and maintenance of component specifications, source control documents, and other component-related documentation.
  • Research electronic and electromechanical components and provide technical information to support engineering component selection.
  • Assist design engineering and manufacturing with component selection, handling, processing, and replacement activities.
  • Support component qualification and screening activities in accordance with applicable customer, contract, and Parts, Materials and Processes (PM&P) requirements.
  • Research component availability, lifecycle status, obsolescence, and alternate sources to support program needs.
  • Monitor Government-Industry Data Exchange Program (GIDEP) alerts and assist with evaluating their impact on development and production programs.
  • Support component failure investigations and root cause analysis under the direction of senior engineering personnel.
  • Maintain accurate component records, specifications, lifecycle information, and supporting documentation within applicable PLM, ERP, and component management systems.
  • Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, procurement, quality, and configuration management teams to resolve component-related issues.
  • Develop familiarity with industry standards, electronic component technologies, and screening and qualification processes.
