About The Position

Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories, Inc. (SEL) is hiring a Compliance Technician - Product Safety for its Product Compliance team in Pullman, Washington. The position provides technical support to customers and works in a state-of-the-art test facility, supporting Product Compliance and R&D personnel. The technician performs and documents Product Safety testing in accordance with applicable standards, validates and troubleshoots test equipment and setups, and develops an in-depth understanding of relevant standards and requirements. The role also involves identifying, measuring, and improving processes and documentation.

Requirements

Two-year electronic technology or related associate degree.
At least 5 years of experience with Product Safety compliance test methods and philosophies at an electronics development and manufacturing company.
Hands-on working knowledge of common Product Safety test equipment.
Testing experience with one or more of the following standards: CSA/UL/EN/IEC 61010-1, -2-030, -2-201; EN/IEC 60255-27; EN/IEC 60529; or UL 508 / CSA C22.2 No. 14.
Self-motivated and able to work as a self-starter.
Strong writing, documentation, and speaking skills.
Ability to learn new skills and assume new responsibilities.
Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment.

Nice To Haves

Programming skills and testing automation.
Familiarity with Product Safety design mitigation methods and best practices.
Familiarity with operating within a UL Data Acceptance Program (DAP) or Customer Test Facility (CTF) Program.

Responsibilities

Perform Product Safety tests and document results in accordance with applicable standards.
Provide overall support to Product Compliance and R&D personnel.
Validate and troubleshoot test equipment and setups to ensure compliance.
Develop and maintain an in-depth understanding of applicable standards and requirements for Product Safety testing.
Identify opportunities to measure and improve processes and documentation.
Provide technical support to customers.
