Compliance & Sustainability Intelligence Manager (EPR)

rePurpose GlobalPhiladelphia, MA
$75,000 - $115,000Remote

About The Position

rePurpose Global is seeking a Compliance & Sustainability Intelligence Manager to manage the outward-facing aspects of their Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) compliance services for consumer brands. This role involves tracking regulatory changes, educating customers and prospects, and translating complex regulations into actionable guidance. The position is highly visible and requires a strong understanding of U.S. and Canadian packaging regulations. A key responsibility is owning the company's webinar program, from content creation to live presentation and Q&A. The manager will also answer customer inquiries, produce written intelligence, and equip sales and customer success teams with necessary materials. Collaboration with technical, product, and customer success teams is essential for feeding market insights back into product development. The role is remote, with a preference for candidates in New York or on the East Coast.

Requirements

  • A relevant foundation in EPR, packaging or environmental policy, sustainability, regulatory affairs, or a related field, built in industry, at a PRO or consultancy, or through study in environmental science, public policy, law, or packaging.
  • Deep EPR / packaging-policy expertise, including experience in plastics and packaging policy, circular economy, waste management, or Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR), with a working command of program governance, financing, PRO structures, and enforcement.
  • Regulatory fluency and range, with the ability to independently read, interpret, and track statutory and program text across multiple jurisdictions and hold differences accurately.
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills, including genuine comfort speaking publicly and hosting webinars and live Q&A.
  • Strong writing skills for a non-expert audience, capable of making complex rules feel simple without losing essential details.
  • Customer- and stakeholder-facing polish, with confidence in engaging producers, prospects, regulators, and industry groups.
  • Comfort with ambiguity and pace, with the ability to stay organized and credible in a fast-moving regulatory environment where guidance is often incomplete.
  • Self-direction, with a track record of owning a domain end-to-end with minimal oversight in a remote, cross-functional team.

Nice To Haves

  • Brand- or producer-side experience navigating EPR obligations or packaging compliance first-hand.
  • Participation in advisory committees, working groups, trade associations, or industry coalitions.
  • A history of creating content or educational programming for a technical or regulatory audience.
  • Familiarity with recycled-content mandates, labeling laws (e.g., recyclability claims, chasing arrows restrictions), or other circular-economy rules that intersect with packaging EPR.
  • Direct exposure to eco-modulation fee models, design-for-recyclability (D4R) guidelines, or state-level rulemaking comment periods.

Responsibilities

  • Track U.S. regulatory change and turn it into intelligence, monitoring enacted and emerging state programs, reporting cycles, rulemaking activity, PRO program plans, administrative guidance, and enforcement timelines.
  • Serve as a trusted first point of contact for regulatory questions, fielding customer and prospect inquiries on EPR obligations, fees, reporting categories, exemptions, and deadlines with empathy and clarity.
  • Own the webinar & thought leadership program, including planning the calendar and topics, building content and narrative, hosting live sessions, and leading follow-up Q&A.
  • Create education and enablement content such as regulatory briefs, policy gap assessments, regulatory updates, blog posts, FAQs, explainers, and one-pagers.
  • Equip sales, marketing, and customer success teams with talking points and materials to speak accurately and authoritatively about EPR.
  • Represent rePurpose Global in public-facing settings, including producer education, industry engagement, and comment-period and rulemaking awareness.
  • Flag regulatory changes affecting packaging classification, fees, or reporting to technical and product teams for reflection in compliance software and product roadmap.
  • Bring recurring customer questions back as input to shape the platform experience.
