About The Position

At Indigo Real Estate, the Compliance Specialist plays a crucial role in the success of the properties by ensuring adherence to tax credit and affordable housing regulations. This position involves reviewing and processing all resident and applicant Tax Credit certification paperwork, generating monthly compliance reports, and updating property data within the Yardi software, including units, utility allowances, income, and rent limits. The specialist is also responsible for conducting spot-checks on property files and leasing activities to ensure compliance with Fair Housing laws and other relevant regulations. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of Tax Credit or affordable housing programs, particularly the LIHTC program, and demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills. They should be capable of multitasking, making timely decisions with limited supervision, and exhibit a high degree of self-motivation, initiative, and a collaborative work style.

Requirements

  • Working knowledge of Tax Credit or affordable housing programs
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of LIHTC program
  • Ability to multitask
  • Ability to make smart and timely decisions with limited guidance
  • Highly self-motivated with a strong sense of initiative
  • Collaborative work style
  • At least 2 years of compliance experience
  • At least 1-2 years of data entry experience, with proficiency in accurately ensuring, updating, and maintaining large datasets
  • Demonstrated experience working with data systems and software tools to ensure accurate and consistent record-keeping
  • Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail, especially in reviewing and validating data for compliance purposes
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to exercise quick and accurate judgment and maintain confidentiality
  • Effective conflict resolution and customer service skills
  • Ability to set priorities and multi-task efficiently in a fast-paced environment
  • Current driver's license
  • Proof of automobile insurance
  • High School Diploma or equivalent

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of YARDI Voyager software, WBARS reporting system, or similar systems
