About The Position

The Compliance Specialist executes day-to-day operational activities that support CDL’s Corporate Compliance Program. This role is responsible for training, communications, ongoing monitoring, documentation, investigation support, and coordination across clinical, operational, and administrative functions to help ensure adherence to federal and state regulatory requirements, accreditation standards, internal policies, and industry best practices. The position requires strong analytical skills, disciplined follow-through, and a practical understanding of healthcare regulatory requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration, compliance, business, or related field; equivalent experience considered.
  • Minimum 2–4 years of healthcare compliance, auditing, privacy, or regulatory operations experience.
  • Working knowledge of HIPAA, Medicare/Medicaid regulations, fraud and abuse laws, and accreditation standards.
  • Strong analytical skills, including the ability to interpret regulatory requirements and evaluate operational controls.
  • Proficiency with Excel, audit tools, case-management systems, LMS platforms, and document management systems.
  • Ability to manage multiple concurrent tasks with a high level of detail orientation and follow-through.

Nice To Haves

  • Certification in healthcare compliance (e.g., CHC, CHPC, CPCO) or related credential.
  • Experience with compliance software (e.g., NAVEX One, Ethico, Vanta, Drata etc.) and data analytics tools.

Responsibilities

  • Track regulatory updates from CMS, OIG, OCR, state agencies, and accreditation bodies; incorporate changes into policy, procedure, and operational workflows; prepare summaries and distribute relevant guidance to internal stakeholders.
  • Maintain compliance issue logs, corrective action plans (CAPs), and follow-up activities to help ensure timely and verifiable remediation.
  • Participate in risk assessments by gathering data, documenting control gaps, and providing tactical support for mitigation strategies.
  • Maintain inventory of compliance policies and procedures, ensuring timely review, revision, and dissemination.
  • Assist with drafting, revising, and formatting compliance-related policies and procedures; facilitate version control and appropriate approvals.
  • Validate that functional policies and procedures align with company compliance requirements and regulatory expectations.
  • Coordinate periodic policy attestations and maintain documentation of employee acknowledgments.
  • Support development and delivery of compliance training content, including annual training, role-specific education, and targeted refreshers.
  • Administer compliance training assignments within the learning management system (LMS), track completion rates, and follow up on outstanding items.
  • Curate training files, attendance logs, and materials for audit readiness.
  • Assist in preparing compliance communications, alerts, and guidance documents to reinforce compliance expectations across the organization.
  • Maintain centralized compliance program documentation, evidence repositories, and audit binders.
  • Prepare recurring compliance reports, dashboards, and summaries for leadership and committees (e.g., Compliance Committee).
  • Prepare materials for internal audits, external auditors, regulators, and accreditation surveys.
  • Ensure documentation is retained in accordance with regulatory and organizational record-retention requirements.
  • Conduct routine privacy monitoring such as access log reviews, minimum necessary checks, and breach-risk assessments.
  • Track and document privacy incidents, mitigation steps, and notifications.
  • Support HIPAA Security Rule activities including user access validation, device inventory verification, and documentation updates.
  • Confirm Business Associate Agreements are in place, as required, and assist with vendor management.
  • Contribute to the annual compliance risk assessment by compiling data, validating controls, and documenting risk scores.
  • Assist with operation, reporting, and analytics for the Compliance Helpline, Conflict of Interest Program, and Exclusion and Sanction Screening Program.
  • Support implementation of annual compliance work plan activities.
  • Assist with program evaluations and maturity assessments by coordinating data collection and documenting outcomes.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to advance initiatives that strengthen a culture of compliance across the organization.
  • Serve as a point of contact for departments needing compliance guidance; escalate regulatory questions appropriately.
  • Manage projects or compliance components of larger cross-functional projects by identifying and managing stakeholder contacts; assemble teams based on project needs and team member strengths; develop, analyze, and manage project plans; negotiate and manage project schedules and resource forecasts; and manage project financials and deliverables.
  • Coordinate with Operations, HR, IT Security, and Finance to gather data, validate controls, and close compliance gaps.
  • Participate in compliance meetings by preparing materials, documenting minutes, and tracking action items.
