About The Position

Covered Compliance is seeking a driven, strategic, and hands-on BSA Analyst to enhance its BSA/AML compliance program. This role is suited for a seasoned professional with over 10 years of experience in BSA/AML within FinTech, consumer finance, or Banking-as-a-Service (BaaS) environments, ideally with an active CAMS certification. The Compliance Officer will be instrumental in strengthening the company's BSA/AML framework, risk management, and regulatory compliance infrastructure. The position ensures the program is risk-based, effective, and adapts to evolving regulatory expectations, financial crime risks, business changes, and the complexities of the BaaS ecosystem. Responsibilities include supporting and enhancing core BSA/AML program elements through risk assessment, regulatory analysis, monitoring, testing, issue management, reporting, control development, and program governance. The role involves translating regulatory requirements and risks into practical, scalable controls and processes to support compliance and business growth. As a subject matter expert, the Senior BSA Analyst will collaborate with various departments, including Compliance, Operations, Servicing, Product, Technology, the Bank, Westlake, and third-party service providers, to identify risks, evaluate controls, develop remediation strategies, and strengthen the BSA/AML control environment. This role will significantly influence how Covered manages financial crime risk, ensures regulatory compliance, enhances operational controls, and fosters innovation and trust.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business, Accounting, Criminal Justice, Compliance, or related field preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in BSA/AML, financial crime compliance, banking, financial services, or regulatory compliance.
  • Strong knowledge of BSA/AML, OFAC, SAR, CIP/CDD, and 314(a) requirements.
  • Experience with compliance monitoring, testing, risk assessments, audits, and regulatory examinations.
  • Strong analytical, investigative, documentation, and communication skills.
  • Ability to translate regulatory requirements into practical business controls.
  • Experience working with financial institutions, bank partners, servicing organizations, or third-party service providers preferred.
  • CAMS or equivalent certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide day-to-day BSA/AML compliance guidance to business and operational stakeholders.
  • Serve as a senior BSA/AML subject matter expert for the Bank, Westlake, and internal stakeholders.
  • Coordinate BSA/AML-related requests, escalations, inquiries, and corrective actions.
  • Evaluate regulatory requirements and translate them into operational controls and monitoring requirements.
  • Identify emerging BSA/AML risks and recommend appropriate control enhancements.
  • Support administration and ongoing enhancement of the BSA/AML Compliance Program.
  • Monitor compliance with applicable BSA/AML requirements, including Customer Identification Program (CIP), Customer Due Diligence (CDD), beneficial ownership, suspicious activity monitoring, and recordkeeping requirements.
  • Manage and/or support OFAC screening requirements and related escalations.
  • Manage 314(a) requests and coordinate appropriate research, documentation, and responses.
  • Support SAR-related investigations, escalation, decisioning, documentation, and regulatory reporting.
  • Maintain awareness of applicable federal and state financial crime requirements.
  • Conduct risk-based manual and automated testing of BSA/AML controls.
  • Review monitoring outputs and identify potential control weaknesses, production defects, and compliance exceptions.
  • Support development and enhancement of automated compliance monitoring.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual BSA/AML compliance reporting.
  • Review and validate compliance metrics, trends, exceptions, and management reporting.
  • Coordinate BSA/AML responses to internal and external audits.
  • Support Bank audits and examinations.
  • Coordinate responses to state and regulatory examinations involving BSA/AML.
  • Prepare documentation, evidence, testing results, policies, procedures, and management responses.
  • Track examination and audit findings through resolution.
  • Develop and/or deliver BSA/AML-related compliance training.
  • Support required Compliance Training, including FIS University assignments.
  • Identify training gaps based on monitoring, testing, complaints, audit findings, and regulatory developments.
  • Identify, document, escalate, and monitor BSA/AML compliance issues.
  • Perform root-cause analysis and recommend corrective actions.
  • Monitor remediation through closure and validate that corrective actions adequately address identified risks.
  • Escalate material BSA/AML risks to appropriate Compliance and management personnel.
