About the Role The Compliance Officer, U.S. Central Functions is responsible for developing, leading, and overseeing the implementation of the U.S. compliance program, with a focus on supporting Central Functions within the U.S market. The Compliance Officer, U.S. Central Functions, together with the entire U.S. Compliance team, is also responsible for driving the mission of Global PMI Compliance to: Empower and enable management, employees, and close third parties to meet applicable external (legal, regulatory, and industry) and internal (policy) requirements by providing them with the tools, knowledge and advice to do their jobs in an ethical and compliant way Assess risk, monitor ongoing compliance, test compliance controls, and investigate allegations of potential non-compliance Drive a culture of compliance that encourages raising concerns about potential or actual compliance violations and proactive addressing of issues.

Requirements

  • At least 7 years of experience in a compliance role
  • University degree in law, business, or other relevant field
  • In-depth knowledge and applied understanding of compliance programs and related subject matters
  • Experience working in a regulated industry with many touchpoints with government authorities
  • Experience with third-party due diligence, anticorruption matters, and internal investigations
  • Experience handling and solving complex issues and problems
  • Experience managing and influencing change and overcoming adversity
  • Demonstrated professional integrity and ability to stand alone.
  • Proven ability to think strategically and exercise sound judgment.
  • Proven ability to lead, manage, build relationships, collaborate, and communicate effectively

Responsibilities

  • Drive and deliver compliance initiatives in all five pillars of the Global PMI Compliance Program (enumerated below), with a focus on Code of Conduct and Ethics, Conflicts of Interest, Speaking Up, Whistleblowing and Investigations, as well as legal compliance topics such as Anti-Corruption and Competition law. Lead the implementation and continuous improvement of the Program with minimal oversight.
  • Program Governance & Risk Assessment
  • Identify, assess, and manage compliance risks in the U.S.
  • Stay current with ethics and compliance developments, best practices, and benchmarks.
  • Policy & Processes
  • Develop expertise in company policies
  • Develop and implement local compliance procedures and processes
  • Oversee and execute compliance processes.
  • Training & Communications
  • Raise the profile and awareness of compliance and the U.S. Compliance Program within U.S. Central Functions
  • Provide face-to-face risk-based training to various audiences
  • Integrate compliance messaging and training into ordinary course business messaging and training
  • Oversee and support e-learning process.
  • Monitoring & Investigations
  • Oversee or conduct internal investigations
  • Enhance and maintain a culture of speaking-up
  • Monitor the effectiveness of the U.S. Compliance Program.
  • Advisory
  • Support employees seeking compliance advice
  • Participate in Central Functions team meetings
  • Provide compliance input and advice on strategic business matters
  • Identify and analyze compliance issues and present recommendations.
