About The Position

Logan Simpson is seeking a full-time Compliance Inspector to join their team in Arizona, based out of their downtown Tempe office. This role involves inspecting construction sites for compliance with environmental terms and conditions for a fiber optic communication line project. The ideal candidate will work in compliance with the safety manual, document daily inspections, communicate with contractors, assist in developing action plans for non-compliance, and travel throughout central to northeast Arizona. The company is an award-winning, multidisciplinary consulting firm with over 150 professionals across six offices in the western United States, specializing in environmental planning, cultural resource management, community planning, and landscape architecture design.

Requirements

  • Ability to solve practical problems and carry out responsibilities under limited supervision.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence and present information in one-on-one and small group situations.
  • Ability to function with clear and detailed expectations and communication.
  • Ability to interact effectively at all levels and across diverse cultures.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, multitask, and be able to adjust to daily changes in priorities to meet the construction schedule.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with crew members and supervisors is a must.
  • Possess a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.
  • Ability to work outdoors in extreme temperatures and in remote locations.
  • Ability to walk up to 5+ miles per day over steep terrain for extended periods of time.
  • Proficiency with electronic devices such as smart phones and tablets for digital data collection.
  • Ability to drive a four-wheel drive vehicle.
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor or Master’s degree in Biology, Planning, Anthropology, Engineering, Landscape Architecture, Environmental Studies, or closely related field.
  • 3+ years of environmental compliance construction monitoring.
  • ATV and/or UTV driving experience.

Responsibilities

  • Inspects construction sites for compliance with documented environmental terms and conditions associated with the US Forest Service construction approval for an overhead linear fiber optic communication line project.
  • Work in compliance with the safety manual, with safety of self and others in mind at all times.
  • Document and complete daily site inspections and reports, including photographs, for construction status, environmental compliance, site conditions, issues, and concerns.
  • Communicate daily with the Construction Contractor(s) staff and/or Construction crew members.
  • Assist with the development of action plans for non-compliance conditions in coordination with the project team.
  • Travel throughout central to northeast Arizona for project site inspection, trainings, and meetings.
