Compliance Expert (Hazardous Materials / Dangerous Goods)
About The Position

As a Compliance Expert, you will provide hazardous materials/dangerous goods transportation-related regulatory and compliance expertise and customer support through written and oral expression via internal and external communication outlets. Compliance Experts must go beyond the facts and be able to analyze information to apply it to specific circumstances. This position serves as a subject matter resource for other individuals and departments in the company and for external customers/clients/business partners. Incumbents will be required to develop and maintain in-depth hazardous materials/dangerous goods knowledge and remain active in industry. These individuals will be called upon regularly to develop and update content within stock and custom products. Assignments typically involve products and services with medium to high complexity and meaningful corporate impact. While the majority of time is dedicated to core responsibilities, unique or specialized project work may comprise 20–30% of the role. Individuals at this level possess deep, specialized knowledge in specific areas that support both the market and the broader team.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in a field related to assigned subject matter. In lieu of a bachelor’s degree, an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
- 5+ years of hazardous materials/dangerous goods experience as a practitioner, expert, or researcher.
- Experience developing written materials on hazardous materials/dangerous goods.
- Experience developing and delivering educational/training programs.
- Must be proficient in the use of a PC and MS Office Suite.
- Knowledge/experience with assigned market/regulatory topics required.
- Presentation skills, both in-person and web-based.
Nice To Haves
- Experience with Adobe Acrobat and Content Management Systems preferred.
Responsibilities
- Provides hazmat/dangerous goods regulatory knowledge, expert analysis, product knowledge and training support to internal and external customers.
- Researches, writes, reviews and/or edits material for training, guides/manuals, handbooks, newsletters and on-line services.
- Suggest new products/services and revisions of existing products/services.
- Actively seeks to stay current with trends and specific developments in assigned subject areas in order to facilitate the above responsibilities.
- Take advantage of available software and technology in content creation and research/knowledge acquisition.
- Prepares and delivers webinars and occasionally presentations at outside events.
- Writes blogs, outside articles for trade publications, white papers, etc. to support Marketing efforts and to demonstrate the company’s expertise.
- Provides industry and product knowledge and researches, develops and reviews material for unique or custom projects to support Technology Solutions, Professional Services, Compliance Products, and sales channels.
- Maintains pertinent industry relationships.
