About The Position

Nidec Motor Corporation d/b/a Motion Control Engineering (MCE) is seeking a Compliance Engineer to support ensuring elevator control systems meet applicable safety and regulatory requirements. This role applies established codes and standards, executes product validation and testing, and collaborates with cross-functional teams to support compliance throughout the product lifecycle.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree or higher in engineering or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience
  • 2–5 years of experience in compliance, safety, or regulatory engineering
  • Working knowledge of electrical safety standards and engineering principles
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings, schematics, and system designs

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with elevator systems or industrial control equipment
  • Familiarity with ASME A17.1 / CSA B44 and CSA B44.1 / ASME A17.5 standards
  • Knowledge of seismic requirements for California healthcare facilities (OSHPD/HCAi)
  • Experience supporting product certification (e.g., ETL, CSA, or similar)
  • Experience with compliance testing equipment (e.g., electrical safety, environmental, or seismic test setups)
  • Familiarity with documentation for certification submittals
  • Strong attention to detail and code interpretation
  • Analytical problem-solving and risk assessment
  • Effective cross-functional collaboration
  • Clear technical communication and documentation

Responsibilities

  • Provide support to various departments with code compliance activities under guidance from senior engineers.
  • Apply established elevator safety standards, including ASME A17.1 / CSA B44, ISO 8102-2, and CSA B44.1 / ASME A17.5 to product designs and testing activities.
  • Assist design engineers in incorporating compliance requirements into products throughout the development lifecycle.
  • Execute testing and validation of equipment to verify compliance with electrical safety standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Follow established test procedures and contribute to updates or improvements as directed.
  • Assist with third-party certification efforts (e.g., ETL or equivalent), including documentation and test support.
  • Support identification of compliance issues and participate in resolution efforts.
  • Maintain awareness of applicable codes and standards and apply updates to assigned tasks.
