ŌURA employees in other major cities (like Boston and New York) occasionally gather informally at local co-working locations. We are looking for a Compliance Engineer to join our Hardware team. In this role, you will be the primary driver for global regulatory certifications, ensuring our wearable technology meets the highest standards of safety and compliance from early design through market launch.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in Product Compliance specifically within the consumer electronics industry.
  • Strong technical knowledge of global regulatory standards including FCC, ISED, and EU/CE requirements.
  • Proven experience working directly with 3rd party labs and managing OEM/ODM compliance relationships.
  • Deep understanding of the hardware product development lifecycle (PDL) and its impact on certification timelines.
  • Exceptional ability to prioritize competing business needs and communicate technical requirements to non-technical stakeholders.
  • A proactive, self-starter mindset with the ability to establish structure in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Drive "Design for Compliance" initiatives from start to finish, collaborating cross-functionally with Hardware and Firmware Engineering teams to integrate regulatory requirements into the product development lifecycle.
  • Conduct and oversee in-house and third-party compliance testing, validation efforts, and deep-dive analysis of complex regulatory issues.
  • Manage relationships and project timelines with external regulatory test labs and agencies to drive global certifications to completion for New Product Introductions (NPI).
  • Navigate global product safety and regulatory standards (FCC, ISED, EU, etc.) to ensure seamless market access and sustaining compliance for existing products.
  • Partner closely with OEM and ODM partners to ensure manufacturing processes align with Oura’s rigorous compliance and quality standards.
  • Independently establish structure and clarity within the compliance function, proactively identifying critical path dependencies that could impact launch timelines.
  • Provide Certification updates and maintain the internal certification database.
  • Prepare and maintain test samples for engineering validation and testing.
