About The Position

The Compliance Associate will provide routine administrative support for the Product Control Division (PCD). The Compliance Associate will support the product compliance of Wismettac products sold in North America, ensuring they comply with both country of production and country of sales regulatory requirements.

Requirements

  • Associate degree or equivalent in Food Science, Dairy Science, Foods & Nutrition Studies, Biological Sciences, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and/or regulatory affairs experience
  • 1 year of experience in a regulatory position within a food company.
  • Experience using Word, Excel, and MS Office programs
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including timely follow-up commitment to deliverables, and openness to give and receive feedback
  • PC skills including Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and Word
  • Ability to think “outside of the box”
  • Team player with a collaborative style and strong listening and partnering skills.
  • Ability to discuss technical regulations with non-technical colleagues in an easily understandable way
  • Ability to work independently in leading plan development and execution for assigned projects and tasks.
  • Ability to communicate with the supplier and prepare documents for the customer
  • Self-starter, flexible, comfortable working in unstructured fast-paced environments, able to manage multiple priorities while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Able to proofread and check documentation for accuracy and completeness.
  • Must be able to comprehend and communicate technical articles, research papers, or presentations.
  • Must be able to apply technical knowledge learned.
  • Basic ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions, and offer solutions.
  • Able to handle multiple projects simultaneously.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of FDA and/or USDA regulations is preferred
  • Basic knowledge and understanding of food ingredients, food chemistry, food processing, and food functionality
  • Flexibility with global working hours to adjust for various time zones to accommodate global responsibilities.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Help provide a thorough review of product and ingredient ‘labeling’ including wording and claims.
  • Coordinate with all branch managers, corporate managers, and employees whenever a new policy, procedure or regulation has been implemented by the FDA or other outside agency.
  • Review product labeling, customer-supplied, and in-house labels for compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Approve the release of reviewed labels (as directed).
  • If needed, assist in the research of new products and existing products (National Brand and Private Brand) to meet compliance standards.
  • As needed, participate in the preparation for and execution of regulatory, customer, and third-party audits.
  • Assist as needed in handling customer complaints by ensuring that product complaints are logged, investigated, and resolved according to established deadlines, and company, state, and federal requirements.
  • Ensure that any certifications (e.g. GMP certification, organic certification, kosher certification, gluten-free certification, etc.), registrations, and licenses (if any) are updated or renewed for vendors.
  • Along with the Compliance Specialist and Compliance Manager, act as primary company liaison to FDA and other regulatory agencies personnel.
  • Responsible for checking whether or not the content of Private Brand (PB) products complies with FDA rules.
  • Perform other related duties as required.
