About The Position

The Office of the Chancellor at The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater invites applicants for the position of Compliance and Risk Specialist (Compliance Specialist II, CP019). The Compliance and Risk Specialist provides operational support for the institution's compliance and risk functions. Working under the direction of the Compliance and Risk Manager, this position is responsible for coordinating documentation, managing data and records, supporting training logistics, and facilitating consistent communication and resource access. This role serves as a critical bridge between compliance strategy and campus implementation, contributing to the effective management of institutional risk and regulatory obligations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution or equivalent work experience
  • Experience in administrative support, compliance, risk management, or a related field
  • Demonstrated success in project coordination, documentation, or process management
  • Ability to interpret policies, legal codes, and regulatory requirements
  • Demonstrated ability to contribute to an inclusive, collaborative, and service-oriented work environment
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to clearly convey compliance and risk-related information

Responsibilities

  • Support the maintenance of the UWSA Compliance Matrix by coordinating updates and assisting campus units in identifying and documenting their compliance responsibilities
  • Serve as a point of contact for department representatives regarding compliance reporting timelines, documentation requests, and audit follow-up
  • Lead and coordinate logistics for internal and external audit engagements, including scheduling, document collection, and tracking of management responses
  • Assist with campus-wide compliance communication, including dissemination of annual notices, reminders, and updates
  • Provide administrative support for the Audit, Risk, Compliance, and Ethics (ARCE) Committee, including preparing materials, managing calendars, and recording key outcomes
  • Manage various compliance and risk management websites, ensuring that policies, resources, forms, and training materials are up-to-date and compliant with digital accessibility standards
  • Track and support compliance training, including monitoring completion rates, assisting with content uploads, and preparing reports
  • Serve as the public records custodian, overseeing all requests from intake through final response and ensuring timely and legally compliant responses
  • Provide administrative and operational support for institutional Title VI compliance activities, including assisting with report intake, coordination with campus partners, recordkeeping, and training efforts
  • Track and manage certificates of insurance for vendors, contractors, and third parties; ensure documentation is up to date and renewal requirements are met
  • Assist with documentation and intake for property and liability claims in coordination with UW System, Facilities, and other campus stakeholders
  • Support administration of the University's Special Event Insurance Program, including helping departments understand requirements and linking to appropriate resources
  • Coordinate risk training logistics, including managing training schedules, posting materials online, and assisting with tracking participation
  • Serve as a liaison to departments planning events or activities that may involve elevated risk, assisting with initial intake and documentation needs
  • Maintain organized records of risk communications, assessments, and documentation across departments
