About The Position

The Compliance and BSA/AML Officer reports directly to the Chief Risk Officer and General Counsel and is a part of the Risk team. This role will oversee two teams – compliance and BSA/AML – in not only the community bank space, but also our financial technology (fintech) business line. This role requires a deep understanding of the regulatory regime applicable to the bank and a deep understanding of the payments ecosystem and legal requirements. This role also requires strong leadership skills and enthusiasm to develop team members and create a cohesive team.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business with a strong background in compliance, with an ability to carefully read and parse through regulations, or J.D.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience: 10-15 years of hands-on experience in BSA/AML, OFAC and compliance, preferably in financial services or fintech
  • Skills: You're a problem-solver with a strong understanding of relevant consumer protection regulations (e.g., BSA/AML, OFAC, Regulation E, ECOA, FCRA, UDAAP, payment regulations/reg II, privacy), excellent written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to build compliance programs from the ground up.

Responsibilities

  • Fintech Advisory Work: Work as a partner with business, legal and enterprise risk management teams to evaluate new products and services. Work directly with fintech partners to perform due diligence on new products and services, and document reviews.
  • Solution Oriented: Craft and execute innovative strategies to build and implement robust compliance programs for our fintech products. Heavy focus on not only identifying risks, but also working with stakeholders to identify risk-based solutions.
  • Cross-Functional Team Building: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product, enterprise risk management and legal, to integrate regulatory requirements seamlessly into our products and services.
  • Governance: Create structures, where needed, that allow for flexibility, when appropriate. Streamline cumbersome review processes and manage committee materials and meetings in a way that is meaningful for attendees.
  • Regulatory & Risk Navigator: Lead the monitoring of evolving financial services regulations, and interface with regulatory bodies.
  • Management and Development of Team: Lead and develop the compliance and BSA/AML teams, including individual coaching, proactively identifying opportunities for development, and ensuring that there is a free flow of communication across the teams and limiting silos, when possible.
